What We Do

CREC offers a range of services to support rural schools, educators, families, and communities:

    Conducts and supports interdisciplinary research on rural education and community development, with a focus on equity and justice.

    Partners with rural schools and communities to co-develop programs, share knowledge, and address local challenges.

    Brings together educators, researchers, and community leaders across Pennsylvania and beyond to foster collaboration and shared learning.

  • Resource Sharing

    Acts as a hub for sharing Penn State initiatives and other resources that benefit rural education and community well-being.

  • Professional & Leadership Development

    Advances the use of technology to deliver training, leadership development, and capacity-building for rural educators and community members.

  • National & Global Collaboration

    Builds partnerships to leverage knowledge, expertise, and resources that strengthen rural education at home and abroad.
